SA20 Warns Against Unofficial Ticket:As the highly anticipated third season of the Betway SA20 draws closer, the league has issued a stern warning to fans about the dangers of purchasing tickets from unlicensed vendors and unauthorized online platforms. The cricket league, which kicks off on Thursday, 9 January 2025, with a match between the reigning champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape and MI Cape Town at St George’s Park, Gqeberha, has seen unprecedented demand for tickets.
Official Ticket Channels Only
Betway SA20 emphasized that the only authorized sources for tickets are the league’s official website www.SA20.co.za, www.ticketpro.co.za, and the stadium ticket offices at six host venues: Kingsmead, Wanderers, Centurion, Boland Park, Newlands, and St George’s Park. Fans have been urged to avoid purchasing tickets from secondary markets, particularly online resellers that claim to have access to tickets but are not authorized.
Graeme Smith, Commissioner of the SA20 League, highlighted the risks associated with buying tickets from unofficial sources. “Tickets are promised, often at highly inflated prices, and when buyers inquire about delivery, all communication goes silent. We strongly advise fans to steer clear of these platforms,” Smith said.
Scams on the Rise
The league has noted an increase in fraudulent activity by online resellers. These websites often offer tickets at exorbitant prices, leaving fans without tickets and with no way to reclaim their lost money. As a result, Betway SA20, the franchises, and the host venues are unable to intervene or assist fans who fall victim to such scams.
“The only way to avoid disappointment is by purchasing through the official channels,” Smith added.
Exciting Season Ahead
The 2025 season promises to be a thrilling spectacle, with 34 matches lined up across the six venues. Sunrisers Eastern Cape, the back-to-back champions, will open the season against MI Cape Town, one of the top contenders. Fans are encouraged to secure their tickets early from official outlets to ensure they don’t miss out on the action.
With just days to go before the first match, Betway SA20 is gearing up for another action-packed season, and fans are reminded to be cautious when securing their seats.
