Gladiator II is fine, it’s a big spectacle executed mostly well, it has a number of pretty fun and/or good performances, ‘Gladiator II’ is a big dumb retread of the first film. And I didn’t like that one. Paul Mescal is good, Denzel Washington is great.
Director: Ridley Scott
Cast: Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, Connie Nielsen
Run time: 2hr 28m
Released: Gladiator II is released on 15 November in the UK and 22 November in the US.
How can you not love a film that has swords, sandals, sharks in the flooded Roman Colosseum
Lush and entertaining, spectacular at times, but a pointless effort in some place.
The film delivers great action, but lacks emotional resonance like a Gladiator. Compared to the first film, “Gladiator II” felt a bit silly, and slightly unserious. Mescal’s intelligent performance raises the level of the film beyond its violent combat

On Rotten Tomatoes, Gladiator 2 has a critics’ score of 71% and an audience score of 83%. Gladiator 2 isn’t quite as divisive as the Alien prequels, but it hasn’t received the unanimous praise that the first film did.
All in all, Gladiator II is worth the ticket. Take it for what it is which is an action period piece and you won’t be disappointed. Those looking for historical accuracy or philosophical musings may find themselves dissatisfied.
Overall, Gladiator II is a solid follow-up that honors the original while forging its own path, making it a must-watch for fans of historical dramas and epic action films.
Briomatic Rating: 4/5.
